Heat Treatment

Heat Treatment with Fluidized Temperature Baths

For tempering, annealing, hardening and Nitinol shape-setting

Fluidized temperature baths provide a precise, uniform and powerful heat source for a wide range of heat-treatment applications. They are ideal for processes where temperature stability and repeatability are critical, such as Nitinol shape-setting, materials research, metal processing and quality control.

A.T.S. fluidized baths are available with temperature ranges from –100°C to +1100°C, supporting both low-temperature and high-temperature thermal processes.

Why Heat Treatment in a Fluidized Bath?

Perfect Temperature Uniformity

The aluminum-oxide media fully surrounds the workpiece, creating an exceptionally stable temperature profile. This allows components to be hardened, tempered or annealed without distortion.

Fast Heat Transfer

The liquid-like motion of the media significantly reduces heat-up times. This saves energy and enables faster testing or production cycles.

Safe and inert

Unlike salt baths or conventional ovens, aluminum oxide provides an inert, non-corrosive and explosion-safe medium. This allows even sensitive medical or metallic components to be processed reliably.

Heat Treatment Applications

Heat-Treatment Applications – A fluidized bath is ideal for:

  • Nitinol shape-setting
  • Tempering and annealing of steel or metallic components
  • Hardening of precision parts
  • Thermal stability testing
  • Stress relief / stress-relief annealing
  • Cryogenic testing (with special models down to –100°C)

Heat Treatment in the European Industry

Fluidized baths are used in sectors such as:

  • Medical device manufacturing
  • Automotive and metalworking
  • High-tech production
  • Shipbuilding
  • Laboratories and research centers
  • Additive manufacturing (AM)

A.T.S. systems are renowned worldwide for their reliability and stability—essential qualities for critical heat-treatment processes.
